This is Why I Love Hockey

Updated: May 2, 2019

The difference between these two photos is why I love coaching hockey.

The first photo is of Team Colorado right before our first game of the American Showcase in St Louis. Notice the players: they are all playing together for the first time and just starting to get to know each other. Look at the distance between them-- the coaches, a bunch of boys, all of them doing their own thing.

Then check out the second photo, after our last game of the tournament: A bonded group, having fun, walls down, and working together. Our locker room was pure laughter-- an absolute blast with every player involved.

Thank you, Team Colorado, for letting me humbly be a part of this team. The assistant coaches and athletes brought so much to the table. Thank you for reminding me why I love this game so much... and it doesn't hurt that we won our division!!!

Coaching at the High School level is so much fun, and is very challenging at the same time.  High school is such an interesting time, and your players reflect all the different phases that they are go

One of the things that I respect the most about hockey, is that there is nothing "natural" about it.  There is no running, jumping, etc.-- all the things we learn as we begin to move when we are small

Guidance is huge in the world of sports, and in everything else as well.  I am fortunate to have someone who has guided me thru hockey ever since I was young.  It's funny, the lessons may have changed
